Canada Stitches is a growing international group of stitchers and quilters who have come together to help make a difference in the lives of Canadians – two legged and four legged. Our projects are as diverse as the Canadians themselves – premature infant quilts, quilts for children with serious, life-impacting medical conditions, quilts for injured or disabled First Responders, items for fundraisers for no-kill animal shelters, and so much more. Though we mainly use counted cross stitch, machine embroidery, and quilting for our projects, we do have members who create with appliqué, knitting, and crochet.
Tired of seeing projects that only focus on one age group or one facet of a multicultural society, founders Kim and Julie decided the time was right to make something that reflected the face of Canada itself. They wanted to help the animals in the shelters as well as the First Responders, the children and the adults. They wanted to respect the traditions of this wonderful nation. Both are long time needleworkers with a drive to help others. Kim is the dreamer who is always finding new ideas to create and Julie is the techno-geek who likes to make the dreams come to life.
If you are interested in joining our merry band of stitchers and quilters, it’s really very easy. We are most active on Facebook, though we do have a few members that are not there. You are welcome to read through the Stitchers and Quilters pages above and then either join us on Facebook or drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be happy to get you going.
